About this service
Program matches trained community volunteers with adults who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking, computer or math skills, but who are unable to access literacy or ESL classes or programs.
We also assist learners who need to upgrade their skills to enter employment training, prepare for English proficiency testing (CELPIP, IELTS) to meet eligibility requirements for permanent residency or want help with high school completion.
Learners include adults (18+) whose native language is English as well as immigrants and newcomers for whom English is an additional language. People temporarily visiting Canada are not eligible to access our services.
Volunteers and learners arrange to get together at convenient locations in the community for up to 4 hours a week to work on meeting literacy goals set by the learner for improved quality of life, employment, or self-sufficiency.
