Angels' Valley Christian Retreat Centre History Angels Valley was established in 1988 as a result of the vision placed on Jack and Joyce Tipping (our founders) that a retreat center was needed in Northern Alberta to act as a sanctuary for those needing a quiet place away and the opportunity to seek advice and counsel of others who have travelled a ways along life's path. This has been our mission and mandate since those early days. And even though Jack and Joyce are now with the Lord, this objective has not changed. They also saw the need for a space for churches to hold retreats, family reunions, church services, evening hymn sings, and for communities to use for sewing and sCanada Revenue Agency (CRA)pbook workshops, retreats and the like. They eventually built a home, a cabin and the retreat center. Jack and Joyce Tipping were not only the founders but also the Centre managers for the next 15 years until they retired and moved to Vancouver Island. Along the way, they ministered to countless people, some of whose stories are told in a small book written by Jack and available at Angels Valley. We are indebted to their visionary leadership, selfless dedication and warmth of relationships.

Angels Valley has been used by a great many groups and individuals over the past almost 35 years. We have hosted individuals, groups and families from the surrounding communities of Fort Assiniboine, Whitecourt, Barrhead, Westlock, Swan Hills and Onoway and from further afield including Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, Lacombe, Red Deer, Hinton, Grande Prairie, Calgary and points north and south. We have had visitors from across Canada and from other countries and continents. While our original focus was on helping individual Christians re-connect with the Lord and live their lives for Him, we also have acted as a host facility for group retreats, family reunions or get togethers. Our chapel has been the site of marriage rededications and church services, as well as evening hymn sings. We have groups come to do sCanada Revenue Agency (CRA)pbooking and quilting workshops. We have hosted a large group of Campus Crusade for Christ and a Gospel music group from the States. We are thankful to be in Woodlands County and have reached out to the community groups in the County as a part of our community outreach and service to all. We have welcomed those who have come for a day to have a personal retreat as well as others who have simply offered to do some volunteer work and clean up. We have had kind people donate lumber, furniture, cabins, equipment, toys and paintings. We are thankful for our Board members who spend time in prayer for us and who faithfully attend meetings and provide direction to our staff. We are thankful as well for our volunteer staff and others who have served on a volunteer basis. Our main building of 6400 square feet has space for overnight sleeping for about 27 people depending on how many rooms are being shared. We have dining room space for about 60 people, an open sun deck, a prayer room, a sitting room, a childrens toy/games room and a chapel that seats about 30-50 people. Why You Should Come: Hanging from the wall of our chapel are these words: Surely The Presence Of The Lord Is In This place. That says it all. We believe that His presence will touch you and that His grace will meet your needs. You can spend time here on your own or with family and friends, or you can meet with the managers who will share some encouraging words and thoughts with you.
