Parkland Rehabilitation - Treatment of Dizziness & Vertigo

Dizziness is a term, which is used to describe a variety of sensations (light headedness, feeling of imbalance, disorientation). Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness defined as the illusion of movement occurring in the environment. There are numerous causes of dizziness and specifically vertigo.

One of these causes is a condition known as BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), which can be successfully treated using a series of movements to reposition crystal(s) that have been displaced in the inner ear. Dizziness/vertigo may also be treated by using techniques to restore mobility to the cervical spine (neck), improve gaze stability (the ability to keep an image in focus when you move your head), and balance (which may be affected by a poorly functioning vestibular apparatus/inner ear). All of these systems play a crucial role in giving your body a sense of equilibrium.
