Immaculate Conception Parish

The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, also known as St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, has been a pivotal spiritual location in Sexsmith for over 100 years. In 1916, a small church was constructed in Clairmont that was later moved to Sexsmith in 1920. In 1953, after changing locations, a new establishment was built. The narrative of the church also illuminates its various priests, initiatives, and significant events, notably the talks of a new church led by Father J. Hague and the fundraising efforts through the Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O). Additionally, a major achievement under Father Frances Dales was the construction of the present-day church and the old St. Mary's School. The church has hosted a succession of dedicated priests committed to serving the local Catholic community.
