About this service
The Domestic Violence Unit is made up of three RCMP members and a social worker.
Domestic violence can include mental, physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse by one partner toward his or her partner, their children, or the elderly and disabled. Abusers may try to intimidate or control their victims by destroying personal property, withdrawing access to children or pets, or keeping victims from contact with friends or family.
If you think its a domestic violence situation, make the call:
Dial 911 for emergencies or Police non-emergency line at 403-343-5575.
RCMP members will attend the scene and begin an investigation; they will assess the safety of everyone involved and interview the victim and witnesses.
If a criminal offence has taken place and there are sufficient grounds for arrest, the police will arrest the accused. The accused may be arrested even if the victim does not want this to happen.
