About this service
Since 1987, we have also offered the MDE program (Managing Dementia with Expertise), a unique program in Southern Alberta, that uses specialized approaches and best practices for effective behavioural management of people with complex behaviours associated with dementia. The goal of the MDE program is to stabilize behaviours so each individual can move to a more traditional care environment.
Our goal is to successfully transition individuals with dementia who require specialized long-term care to a meaningful, comfortable life. Bethanys MDE unit is meant to be temporary, with the average length of stay being eight to ten months. Our aim is to stabilize behaviours and enable the resident to move to a less structured living environment. Our focus is on quality of care and quality of life as we work with families to achieve the best possible outcome for our residents.
