About this service
Park IT is a free, drop-in summer outdoor playgroup for children with special needs and their families. Community members are also welcome to enjoy this free, drop-in program. Park IT provides developmentally appropriate group programming opportunities to children (0-12) with special needs and their families. This summer drop-in program offers children with special needs the opportunity to play and learn alongside peers and reach their full potential. Families attending the program meet weekly at community playgrounds throughout Red Deer. In addition to the playgroup equipment, staff facilitators provide additional play materials such as water toys, sand toys and other developmentally appropriate activities and programming, including crafts and music. Park IT also offers an emotionally safe environment for parents who face the challenges of raising a child with special needs to connect with one another.
