About this service
The Optical Assistance for Seniors program is based on income and provides low-to-moderate-income seniors with financial assistance for optical services that help maintain a reasonable level of health. You could be eligible to up to a maximum of $230 every three years for prescription eyeglasses under the Optical program. Alberta Blue Cross administers this program on behalf of Alberta Health. Eligible seniors are provided up to a maximum of $5,000 of coverage every 5 years for select dental services and procedures that maintain a reasonable level of dental health. When you are first enrolled into the program, the 5-year period will begin on the date of your first dental service funded under this program.
