About this service
The Southern Alberta Branch's Travel Loan Service is designed to help make travel more convenient and affordable for southern Albertans on dialysis.
Usually, Albertans must pay for out-of-province dialysis treatments up-front, whether they are travelling in Canada or to another country. The costs can vary widely, depending on the dialysis centre you choose. It can be several months before Alberta Health reimburses you for the eligible portion of the treatment costs. The Kidney Foundation's Southern Alberta Branch offers a Travel Loan Service to help people in financial need to pay for the costs of dialysis treatments until Alberta Health refunds them. Once you receive payment from Alberta Health, you must repay your loan from the Foundation.
