About this service

The Resettlement Assistance Program provides settlement services to Citizenship and Immigration Canada referred Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) during the first 4-6 weeks after their arrival in Lethbridge.

  • Refugees will be assisted in attaining permanent accommodation in Lethbridge.
  • Refugees will receive information and orientation sessions which provide practical guidance to every-day living and information on rights and responsibilities as residents.
  • Refugees (children and adults) will have support to enroll in the appropriate daycare, school, educational and/or employment program.
  • Refugees with high barriers and limited life skills in a western context will receive specialized services to support their settlement and independence.
  • Refugees will be connected to other needed services and support programs within both the agency and community.
