About this service
Individuals that have been referred to the clinic and have confirmation of pre-natal alcohol exposure are assessed by a multi-disciplinary team. The team follows guidelines as set out in the Canadian Guidelines for standardized diagnosis and utilizes the expertise of physicians, psychologists, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers and other professionals that may be involved in an individuals life. After comprehensive research and assessment, a code is determined which could result in a diagnosis of an FASD. The multi-disciplinary team will determine if a diagnosis of an FASD is appropriate. Community referrals and intervention plans will be developed as appropriate. For individuals that have received a diagnosis, follow-up supports are provided. Service area includes area defined as Bow Island west to the British Columbia border and Vauxhall south to the U.S. border.
