About this organization
The Jasper VSU exists to ensure that victimized persons receive support, information, referral and court information subsequent to their victimization, in order to limit the effect of their crisis, and to assist in returning their lives to a desired degree of stability. Jasper VSU is a volunteer-run, community driven, non-profit Society working closely with the RCMP to meet the needs of victims of crime and trauma within the Jasper Detachment area. VSU Volunteer Advocates receive intensive training and ongoing crisis intervention training to provide immediate support, practical information and needed referrals to victims of crime or trauma.
Services:
- First response to victims of crime and trauma, as referred by the RCMP
- Informal emotional support and assistance
- Assistance to secure temporary safe housing, and transportation
- Referrals to appropriate agencies/organizations
- Court preparation and support to victim witnesses
