About this service
The Harry Balfour School in Grande Prairie, Alberta, is part of the Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD). The school, which won the 2020 National Inclusive Education Award, teaches around 410 students from Kindergarten through to Grade 8. In September 2020, the school introduced a new Junior Kindergarten program. It is named after Harry E. Balfour (1893-1965), a former teacher, army officer, and education administrator who was twice wounded and taken prisoner during World War I. Balfour received his B.A. from Cambridge University via correspondence while in a prisoner of war camp.
