About this service
The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Workshop is a training program established by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. It is designed to provide foundational assistance to individuals who may be developing a mental health condition or encountering a mental health crisis. The primary goal behind this training is to prevent serious mental health crises, such as suicide or self-harm, through early intervention. It also prepares participants to react appropriately during a crisis, thus potentially minimizing further harm. Just like physical first aid, MHFA is provided until suitable treatment is found or the crisis has been resolved. The 12-hour workshop delves into various disorders, including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma, and psychotic disorders. The program comes with a duration of 14 hours at a cost of $249.
