About this service
The Grande Prairie Community Opioid Response Task Force was established in December 2017 in response to the opioid crisis in Grande Prairie. Founded by former Mayor Bill Given, it aims to coordinate community initiatives to deal with the crisis according to local needs and resources. Its membership comprises representatives from the school district, healthcare sector, RCMP, social services organizations, and municipal government departments, as well as local residents and individuals with personal experience of the crisis. The task force maintains a webpage with links to resources on prevention, harm reduction, policing, and treatment and recovery. It features a 13-video series that tells the stories of those affected by the opioid crisis in Grande Prairie.
