About this service
After the birth of your baby, you will be offered the opportunity to have your baby's hearing screened. If your baby does not pass the hearing screening test, they will need to undergo a more specialized hearing test. This test is known as a diagnostic ABR assessment and is used to determine if there is any hearing loss. With your consent, the healthcare provider who conducted your baby's hearing screening test will refer them for a diagnostic ABR assessment. These assessments are available at select sites in larger city centers across the province. The nearest AHS Audiology Service site will contact you to schedule an appointment once they receive the referral.
