Career Counseling is a comprehensive service that involves a team approach to vocational rehabilitation. It includes a thorough intake process that determines client eligibility and identifies various barriers to employment due to health or disability. The key query is the effect of the client's health or disability upon their capacity to find or keep a job. The service includes activities such as vocational assessment, action plan development, job search training, and adjustment counseling. The counseling service goes through five stages: understanding oneself and the environment, understanding the decision-making process, implementing career decisions, and adjusting, adapting, and advancing. Clients are provided with customized training on job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, and interview coaching. Counselors facilitate the job placement process by guiding clients on how to connect with suitable employers in both the advertised and hidden job markets. If a client cannot complete the program due to health deterioration, they are referred to appropriate services and can re-apply later when suitable.
