About this organization
The Islamic Association of Grande Prairie and District (IAGP) is a benevolent body that operates a mosque and manages educational courses, community programs, and religious services for Muslims in Grande Prairie and its vicinity. The IAGP was founded in 1993 to meet the needs of the then 20-strong Muslim community and has grown to accommodate approximately 300 members. It has an Executive and a Five Committee responsible for all major decisions, and a full-time imam who performs daily prayers and leads various programs. In addition to religious gatherings, the organization also offers Arabic/Quranic classes, youth and women's activities, and has facilities including a library, meeting rooms, and a section of the local cemetery for the Muslim community. The IAGP is actively exploring methods to expand its capacity for the anticipated needs in the coming years.
