UP Community Services Society - Indigenous Resources

The Indigenous Resource Department provides cultural insight, support and teachings to UPs clients and staff in all programs and departments.

Our Indigenous Resources are designed to provide a Traditional Indigenous Healing approach in working with children and families. We recognize the need for children, individuals and families to be connected to their culture and maintain ties to their family, ancestors and community.

• Traditional Indigenous Resolutions Training on a monthly basis
• Weekly cultural teaching sessions through the Amosis Express
• Regular scheduled Sweat Lodge Ceremonies
• Culturally safe spaces in every facility
• Indigenous advisors and Indigenous Engagement Specialists for case consults, family meetings, cultural supports for children/families/staff, family group conferences/family group circles
• Cultural Advisors for one to one cultural teachings and ceremonies
• Group cultural teachings and ceremonies
• Access to Elders
• Community Calendar of cultural events and programs
