About this service

Available in both Calgary and Edmonton, creative supports is a residential placement and community support program designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury, mental health concerns, physical disabilities and/or complex needs to find creative solutions to the everyday challenges of living independently in the community.

Typically creative support placements match up individuals who are fairly independent with a supportive roommate/support home operator (SHO) who agrees to provide supports in areas of specified needs to the client. Support home operators (SHO)/supportive roommates are caring families or individuals who are contracted through Excel Society and welcome an individual with a disability to live with them in their homes. Support Home Operators/supportive roommates provide 24 hours, 7 days a week support to the individual. The success of our creative supports program is the critical feature of finding a relationship that works.
