The Alberta Human Rights Act protects Albertans from discrimination in certain areas based on specified grounds. The purpose of the Alberta Human Rights Act is to ensure that all Albertans are offered an equal opportunity to earn a living, find a place to live, and enjoy services customarily available to the public without discrimination.
Due to confidentiality concerns, the Alberta Human Rights Commission cannot accept or reply to complaints of discrimination via e-mail. Please phone the Commission's confidential inquiry line (780-427-7661)if you have a question about a specific situation or want to make a human rights complaint.
A complaint must be made to the Commission within one year after the alleged incident of discrimination. The one-year period starts the day after the date on which the incident occurred. For help calculating the one-year period, contact the Commission.
