About this service
The Community Helpers Program supports our community's "natural helpers," those good listeners to whom we turn when we experience challenges. These "natural helpers" are offered training to strengthen their support skills, opportunities to learn more about mental health concerns, and gain knowledge of Cochrane's professional helpers for times when referrals are appropriate.
Courses and training programs:
- Inner Leadership: Mindful Practices for Being Centered and Present - The more present and available you can be for yourself, the greater service you can be to others.
- Mental Health First Aid - Learn crisis first aid skills to interact with adults who experience substance-related disorders, mood-related disorders, anxiety and trauma-related disorders and psychotic disorders.
- Community Helpers Training - one day only! Community Helpers teaches skills for supporting others, including those struggling with addictions, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
