About this service
Wicihitowin (formally known as Hope Homes for Indigenous Youth) is a program that provides safe and stable housing options and individualized supports for youth, 16-24 years old, who are Indigenous and experiencing homeless or are at risk of homelessness.
Wicihitowin operates from Housing First, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Practice models of care and integrates a holistic Indigenous worldview.
Wicihitowin works with youth to:
- Access housing options including independent living, shared accommodation, supportive roommates, and community housing
- Engage in cultural learning and spirituality through traditional ceremony and cultural activity combined with community-based life skills
- Move towards their educational and employment goals
- Strengthen relationships with friends and family through ceremony, community and traditional activities
- Receive Indigenous resources and services
Referrals are through the Safe Communities Opportunities & Resource Centre.
