About this service
Side by Side is a pastoral care and community outreach ministry in the form of a day program that provides warmly encouraging fellowship for people living with dementia, and respite time for their care partners. The program takes place once a week in an informal and relaxed atmosphere where enthusiastic and caring volunteers walk alongside participants as friends and neighbours.
The program runs from 9:45 until 2:15 every Wednesday. Each week includes spiritual nurture through a time of devotion, as well as challenge and stimulation through puzzles, games, creative activities, Brain Gym, and Music Therapy. As a child of God, each participant is valued and cared for with dignity and respect.
Side by Side facilitates and encourages personal time for caregivers, but also provides caregivers with opportunities for fellowship with participants and other caregivers.
