About this service
A Family Enhancement Program is a less-intrusive alternative to child protection.
Working together for a short-term, the Siksika Generalist Case Worker and parents will focus on the familys strengths and finding resources that can help the family heal.
Participants in a Family Enhancement Program are parent(s) who have chosen to sit with a Siksika Worker and assess their current situation and any concerns.
Note: If it is determined that child protection is a more appropriate choice and that the child(ren) are at risk, it is the obligation of the Worker to return the case to Childrens Services.
What happens after the assessment?
After your family has completed the assessment and it has been agreed that Family Enhancement services are a good fit for the situation, the following may take place, depending on your familys unique needs:
- Referral to helpful community resources
- Involvement of extended family (as required)
- Mentorship
- Parenting skill development
- Counselling
- Mediation
