About this service
Due to the nature of child welfare involvement being involuntary, and the existing power imbalances, there is often conflict and mistrust between parents and case teams. When parents have third-party support, it leads to improved outcomes and a more positive relationship between the client and case team. As parent advocates we offer:
- Guidance in understanding CS expectations and meeting safety goals
- Hold case team accountable to adhere to policies
- Accompany clients to court and provide education regarding court matters
- Ability to attend CS meetings and offer guidance on effective communication with case team.
- Able to identify challenges and propose solutions that are strength-based and trauma-informed
- Identify resources for clients to address/mitigate concerns in a timely manner without waiting for CS
- Provide referrals and resources to community agencies.
- Provide crisis intervention as the need arises
