About this service
The Consultation Liaison Service utilizes a multidisciplinary approach for assessment and treatment of medical inpatients with co-existing psychiatric concerns that are impacting implementation of the treatment plan. Upon receiving a consult, the team initiates the assessment process and reviews the patient with an attending psychiatrist.
Patients may receive supportive therapy and behavioural management throughout their stay. Once discharged, the service may make community resource referrals and follow-up. Consultation is offered to unit staff regarding behavioural and psychiatric interventions while patients are on the unit.
