About this service
Would you like to save money, learn to budget, and cook with a group of like-minded people?
Calgary's Cooking puts groups of individuals who meet twice a month to plan and then cook healthy, nutritious and budget-friendly meals.
Calgary's Cooking is two easy steps:
STEP ONE: PLANNING MEETING
The members gather to plan a menu around advertised specials in major food store flyers. Each participant pays for his or her share of the food. This is calculated by dividing the total cost of the food by the number of portions required.
STEP TWO: COOKING SESSION
The members get together at a designated kitchen to prepare and cook the recipes. At the end of the cook, each member has several meals to take home and freeze for later, thus furthering healthy eating habits. Members share recipes, nutritional knowledge as they cook and everyone gains from each others enthusiasm. Some participants learn new recipes and are introduced to new foods contributing to a more balanced diet.
