About this organization
Student Legal Assistance has operated since 1979 in order to provide free legal information and representation to low income residents of Calgary and the surrounding regions. SLA is a non-profit, registered charity organization staffed primarily by law students at University Of Calgary. Under the supervision of our Executive Director, Michelle Christopher, SLAs Board of Directors, and a team of advising lawyers, our volunteer student caseworkers are responsible for client intake and management of files alongside their full-time studies. The student team is made up of a Student Director, an elected Student Executive, and approximately 100 caseworkers.
The SLA office is located in the University of Calgary Campus on the 3rd floor of Murray Fraser Hall (Faculty of Law) at the University of Calgary.
