Elephant Artist Relief Society (EAR)

Elephant Artist Relief Society (EAR) is a registered charity that provides practical resources to artists in the Calgary region in order to help sustain their well-being and livelihood and, in turn, contribute to a vibrant cultural sector.

EARs Emergency Relief Funds can provide assistance to any individual visual artist residing in Calgary who is in urgent need due to an unforeseen medical emergency or other catastrophic event. Artists must conform to the following definition of a Professional Artist and be facing a crisis which could seriously impact their ability to proceed with their artistic practice.

• has specialized training in the field (not necessarily in academic institutions)
• is recognized as a professional by his or her peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition)
• is committed to devoting more time to artistic activity, if possible financially
• has a history of public presentation in a professional context
