Worship Our Sunday morning worship begins at 10 AM and typically runs for an hour. It combines a mixture of liturgy, song and meditation, along with a whole bunch of friendly faces. It is now available by livestream for those quarantining or anyone who doesnt want to get out of their pyjamas on a Sunday morning! Music Musical ministry at BU includes: Hymn sing Musical offerings Choir (on hold due to COVID) Annual Cantata (on hold due to COVID) We are a musical congregation that welcomes your gifts and talents! Bible Study We offer traditional and non-traditional Bible studies on a weekly basis that run September through April. They include scripture reading, interpretation and fulsome discussions sure to keep you thinking once you leave the session. Past topics have included gender identity, evolution and Easter week. Contact us to find a session that suits your schedule! United Church Women Our United Church Women (UCW) have been the stalwart volunteers running things in the background for years. They work to ensure congregants stay connected, whether its by a phone call catch-up session or a birthday card in the mail. In non-COVID times, they are responsible for organizing our fundraiser meals. It is also rumoured their meetings include wine. New members are always welcome! Fair Trade In an effort to live in right relation with our neighbours and strangers in Creation, BU has made an effort to make Fair Trade products available to our congregants and the larger community as a whole. Our orders for Fair Trade coffee, tea, spices and dried fruit are accepted on a monthly basis and support farmers from Ecuador to Nicaragua. Email us if youd like to place an order. Refugee Support In the last decade, BU has worked to support refugees from different countries in Africa start a new life for themselves in Canada. Our past refugees have gone on to pursue further opportunities in larger centres, welcome healthy babies and contribute to the community through their work and cultural enrichment. Although COVID has delayed some efforts, we continue to support a family of eight currently awaiting processing of their application. Fundraising is still very much needed.
